Vista Apperciation/Discussion Thread

Please no spamming or posting about how vista sucks! If you hate it then keep it to yourself, this is for fluent vista users who actually like the OS. I made this to talk with others who share my view on it.

I think it's a great OS, my favorite part is how organized it is and how they fixed a lot of crap I hated about XP. Not to mention the black and transparency looks awesome. Your thoughts?

I love vista too

I hear a lot of complaints about incompatibility and how its networking and wireless management is shit, however I've yet to encounter any of these problems.

OK - its not just as quick as XP w/ SP3 but hopefully we'll get some speed out of Vista w/ SP1

Wishful thinking? haha

Well according to the guys at Microsoft, SP1 will be released during the Q1 2008, so it can't be too long now!

Some updates include massive performance increases, one Microsoft employee says specifically;

Quote:
"I've personally been running Windows Vista SP1 pretty exclusively for a few months and I've noticed that my systems run faster and more reliably than they did with the "Gold" release of Windows Vista.

...

SP1 also includes changes focused on improving the performance of Windows Vista in areas that impact the customer experience the most. For instance, with SP1, copying or moving files around your PC, your home network or your corporate network should now be much faster -- up to 50% faster in some scenarios (according to our internal tests). In addition, on many kinds of hardware, resuming a Windows Vista-based PC from sleep is faster on Service Pack 1."
It's been suggested this update will be delivered between March and April, so lets hope its a good one!

For a more in-depth look at what you can expect with Vista SP1, take a read here.

Well I build computers almost every other day. The main thing I would do if you have vista is upgrade your ram. I would not settle with anything under 4 gigs, but your safe with only two. Vista 32bit supports up to four gigs and Vista 64bit well depends most I have ever put in is 8 gig but that is something you would do if you run a sever (which I dont see why you have vista on it) or really love to play 4 games at once. Also the transparency can and will slow down your computer if you are only running two gigs.

This thread is my hero. I've been using a Vista laptop to do everything from gaming to graphic design to 3D Modeling and I absolutely love it. Vista looks great, has no issues, and is super safe from viruses, etc.

I still can't believe people are complaining about Vista. It's such a beautiful and well put together OS.

Can't wait for SP1
