Picassa

Have you been using Google's Picassa? This is Google's free image editor and file management system. I am being convinced to use Picassa over Photoshop. I wonder why. I'm a relatively a newbie to both applications.

Never used it, I've heard of it though. I doubt it's better than Photoshop, maybe it's easier to use, but I doubt it can do as complex functions as Photoshop.

What advantages did you personally find in it?

I saw a screenshot of it, and it looks more like a photo organizer. Does it add some quick and nice effects, similar to Photoshops filters?

I've heard of it very very vaguely. I didn't even really know what it was. It's hard for me to get out of using stuff I'm comfortable with like PhotoShop, although I'm relatively new to that as well.

Picassa is a fairly basic graphic software.

I don't think it is in any way comparable to a heavy-weight like Adobe Photoshop.

I would each of us have our own preference when using graphic editors and such. I really think it depends on the extent of a persons design work. In my opinion, developing websites, creating banners and headers for advertising or companies or even creating forum signatures--can be created using any of the graphic editors.

I did a banner using Paint.Net and it came out just as if I had done it with Photoshop. Of course, it was without the effects and filters because the requester just wanted a basic white background.

I have seen the results of Picassa. Actually, the results are no different then the results of any other graphic editor, namely photoshop.
